Pampering Yourself on a Small Budget PDF Print E-mail

When you’re watching every penny that goes in and out, in can be hard to imagine leaving any spending for luxuries and pampering. The word pampering tends to evoke images of holidays, health spas or cruise liners for some of us, and as such it can often feel like something that other people do.

But this doesn’t have to be the case. One literal definition of pampering is to indulge. When you’re a busy WAHM sometimes you can feel like you have no time to yourself. So why not indulge yourself with time? Just taking a little time out to concentrate on yourself can be a good step towards feeling looked after.

The classic prescription for a little relaxation is to have a hot bubbly bath to wind away your troubles and tension. There are some great products available for a low price, and if you know any WAHMs who have an Avon business or similar, they’re definitely worth contacting to see what the latest deals are.

Another simple but effective way of pampering yourself is to spend time washing your hair properly. Instead of the usual splatter and scrub of shampoo that you might rush through in the morning, really take time to massage your scalp and smell the fragrance of the shampoo and conditioner. Hairdressers recommend shampooing your hair twice to remove build up, and leaving conditioner in on towel dried hair for a few minutes before rinsing.  Once your hair is cleaned you can also spend time drying and styling it, maybe trying out some new ways to wear it for next time you have an important meeting or evening out. This can be great for your confidence!

There are also some fun websites giving you recipes to make your own treatments at home. This is a great activity to try out with the kids too. Try this recipe to leave your skin feeling silky and refreshed...

Homemade Sugar Scrub

1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon olive oil
1 drop vanilla extract

1.  Whisk the ingredients together.
2.  Massage on your face and neck directly over the sink, as some of the product will fall as you massage.
3.  Rinse with warm water and a wash cloth (to remove the oil) or step into the shower.  You can continue with your traditional face wash and toner if desired.  Then moisturize.

Remember spending time on yourself and keeping well is just as important as your tax return or getting the kids to school on time!
