Hi Mums, as you may or may not know I am three weeks away from giving birth and am just realising that while you might be able to take maternity from a job, that sort of thing isn't possible if you run your own business and you don't employ any staff!  What's a girl to do?

What I'm hoping is that some of you that have faced this problem already may be able to help me (and others that read this forum) by posting tips and advice on how you coped.  Or what you learnt through not coping!

Cheers!  Alli

My twopence worth would be: if you can bear it, introduce routine as early as possible - means you have a "happy baby" that gets the right amount of sleep and you have a "happy mummy" that knows she gets a set amount of "time off"! Pip Squeak has 40min in the morning and around 2 hrs at lunch....... Also..... I didn't do this with Red Ted, but if after 3 months they are still not sleeping through, consider "controlled crying" (or as I like to refer to it "uncontrolled" - don't know what is controlled about it. Tsk tsk.) Have just had to do with Pip Squeak and she now finally sleeps - much more energy for me as I get some proper rest! Anyways... routine isnt for everyone...

PS also reset your expectations as to what you think you will manage to get done. It is ok to do less until you find your 2nd time mummy feet...
