The Parting of the Ways   January 16th, 2012

Most of you will know that in the last quarter of 2011, I got inundated with some press coverage following a blog post I did about extreme couponing.  It’s been great fun, and I’m really glad to have got the name of Motivating Mum out there to so many viewers and readers.  At the last count I have appeared on 5 BBC radio stations, plus the BBC six o’clock and ten o’clock news and The One Show and been quoted in the Sunday Times, The Mail on Sunday, Woman magazine and several blogs.  I have also turned other opportunities down – its been amazing, and the sort of publicity which many home business owners would jump at.

However, welcome as it is, its been feeling a bit like money saving is the only thing I do just recently. I don’t regret posting about extreme couponing on Motivating Mum – after all money saving in the home is one way to raise a few pennies and uses many of the same skills as running a business does. However, Motivating Mum is about so much more than couponing and shopping tips

Those of you who come onto Motivating Mum looking for hints and tips for business must be wondering when am I ever going to stop banging on about couponing.  So when I looked at the blog’s Google analytics stats for December, and realised that more people had come to the blog using the search term extreme couponing than had used the search term Motivating Mum. I realised that something had to give…

And so after a little bit of planning and organisation, I give you Money Minding Mum my new blog, which will give you all the money saving stuff, couponing tips and details of the latest and best deals.  This will allow Motivating Mum to get back to what it does best, showcasing the best of mummy business up and down the country.

This is quite an exciting project for me. Many of you will know that I bought Motivating Mum as a going concern – the website was all done, the blog formatted and the social media campaign planned, the business concept tried and tested.  Sometimes when I am advising you guys or teaching my blogging workshops I am painfully aware that I haven’t actually done the hard  part – setting a blog up from scratch, designing it and getting the first visitors to come and see. makes me feel like I’m not a proper entrepreneur.

So I’m doing it now – and I will be writing some blogs on Motivating Mum all about how I have finally set up my own blog from scratch – how I have done it and how it is going. That way those of you who are just dipping the toe into the waters of blogging will be able to follow along with me

In the meantime, I hope that one or two of you will pop by Money Minding Mum now and again.  It’s a bit of building site at the moment – I am very much learning as I go along.  But please come and take a look and tell me what you think.
